One of the coastal cities found near Los Angeles, Rancho Palos Verdes sits on the top of the bluffs on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Its name means Green Sticks Ranch or Green Pole Farm in Spanish, referring to a local tree. Founded in 1973, the city has a population of 41,643 as of the 2010 census. The affluent area is best known for its stunning views of the ocean and Santa Catalina Island, as well as the hills, cliffs, and bluffs.
 
The youngest city on the peninsula, Rancho Palos Verdes, boasts expansive, luxurious properties, a charming stone and glass church called Wayfarer’s Chapel, and several golf courses. It also has many scenic hiking trails. Found within the golf club of the same name, Trumps is a popular restaurant. It combines casual and upscale through a relaxing atmosphere, expansive wine list, and outdoor dining with ocean views. Swan Thai RPV is a favorite spot in South Bay. From traditional sauce to Thai tea to savory meals, everything served is exceptional.
 
Serving Italian dishes and old-country wines, Avenue Italy is an ideal place both for a simple night out and for special occasions. Between the authentic, flavorful food and the welcoming atmosphere, it crafts an unforgettable experience. The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center is a creative outdoor shopping center with many retailers and restaurants. Point Vicente Lighthouse is part historic landmark and part onsite museum. It is on the southwestern point of the peninsula and has stood there since before 1790 when it was named after Captain George Vancouver. A beautiful landmark, it attracts photographers and painters while continuing to light the way home for sailors.
 
Los Verdes Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course and driving range. Designed by Billy Bell and built in a beautiful location, the nearby ocean gives the course some extra challenge in addition to some of the best ocean views in the state. Trump National Golf Club sits on top of Southern California cliffs, providing its own challenges. It boasts a grand clubhouse, a pro golf shop, and a great wedding venue.
